01 — The Zouk Atoms
What are the Zouk Atoms?
The Zouk Atoms are a system for understanding the structure of Brazilian Zouk. A Zouk Atom is a three-step footwork pattern for the follower, normally danced in the regular zouk rhythm.
The system explores which footwork patterns are possible in Brazilian Zouk and how these patterns relate to each other. Through this process, the Atoms reveal the inner structure of the dance: the loops, transitions and connections that the patterns create with each other.
Instead of collecting more and more combinations and memorizing them, we understand the logic behind the patterns. This frees us to move in any direction and to create more on the dance floor.
Why are the Zouk Atoms such a great learning experience?

Logical progression & clear structure
The Zouk Atoms are built as a real system, with clear principles from which the methodology develops step by step. This gives dancers a coherent and progressive learning path.

Creativity & freedom
Dancers learn to combine, modify and transform patterns instead of only copying fixed combinations. The Atoms give dancers a map of the dance.

Integration of head movements
Connecting footwork with different head movements is one of the key skills that advanced dancers need to master, and the Atoms provide the perfect playground for developing this ability.

Technical depth
The system goes beyond steps. It includes body mechanics, connection, leading and following skills, balance, elasticity and movement quality.

The Zouk Atoms have been tested for six years. More than 300 dancers worldwide have already trained with us, and the feedback is consistent: understanding the Atoms improves creativity, leading, following and the integration of head movements.

03 — The program
The time to learn the Zouk Atoms has come!
Step by step from Level 1 to Zouk Atoms Teacher Certification
We have structured the teachings of the Zouk Atoms into a comprehensive program of 6 weeks, 30 hours each. A week-long immersion gives you the ideal setting to learn, deepen your zouk technique and truly integrate the material. If you want to progress in your zouk journey, this is one of the most rewarding investments you can make in yourself! We recommend at least an intermediate level in Brazilian Zouk to start the program (approximately 1 year of regular classes and social dancing).
The three levels of the Zouk Atoms Program
L1
Level 1 · The door to the system
You will learn the principles behind the Zouk Atoms and how to move comfortably within the structure of the system, even with head movements. This level is the prerequisite for the Level 2 modules.
L2
Level 2 · The structure behind Brazilian Zouk
While Level 1 focuses on the principles of the Zouk Atoms system, Level 2 reveals the structures that connect the patterns. It is divided into three modules: Position F, Position B and Position S, exploring forward, backward and sideways atoms, and opening new possibilities for leading, following and movement combinations.

Level 3 · Creativity and freedom
The deep understanding developed in the first two levels allows us to reach a new level in our dancing. Level 3 has two modules: Shadow Position, where we change the perspective on the different structures, and Squares & Contrast, where we explore the versatility of square-based combinations and how to combine atoms through contrast.

Because it gives you a unique insight into the inner structure of Brazilian Zouk. Instead of collecting isolated combinations, you will learn the logic behind the patterns and develop the ability to move, connect and create with more freedom.
As a leader, you will gain more clarity, creativity and control. As a follower, you will improve your adaptability, balance and body awareness, becoming comfortable moving in any direction — even with head movements.
